SONDER performs at one of the most iconic buildings in SLC that you probably forgot about: the historic Eagles Hall (though you might know it as The Bay nightclub).
Right on the corner of 400 South and West Temple sits Eagle’s Hall. It was built in 1911 for the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. In addition to sponsoring social and cultural activities, it furnished free medical services, provided low-cost health and life insurance, and lobbied for progressive labor policies.
The building was sold by the club during the Depression in 1937 and remained vacant several years before being leased to the American Legion in 1941. In 1950 it was purchased by the Equitable Life Insurance Company, which remained here until the mid 1980’s.
The building was rehabilitated in 1990 by The Bay nightclub and operated as such till 2002. It was leased by a few clubs since then, but has largely sat vacant for a number of years.
We are thrilled to reactivate the space and bring the public back into a venue originally built to strengthen the community.
